Named a Fellow by the Association for Information Systems (AIS). The AIS Fellow Award has recognized about 150 global scholars “who have made outstanding contributions to the information systems discipline in terms of research, teaching and service."

Named an ACM Distinguished Scientist by the Association for Computing Machinery, the oldest and largest professional society for the computing sciences.

Designated a William L. Giles Distinguished Professor, the highest honor at MSU, one of twelve on campus.

Listed among the top 100 global MIS scholars (top 2%) of all time (based on h-index, which was 55 in early 2024).

In a published analysis of over 8,000 cybersecurity research publications found in Web of Science over the last 25 years, Dr. Warkentin’s research was found to be second among all global scholars in its impact.

Ranked among the top 2% of global scientists annually for the last 3 years in a Stanford University study.
